Shake siding has been installed below the office windows as part of the project's final phase to remodel the northwest section of the building. Soon it will be painted brown to match the trim along the roofline.
With the kitchen counters and sinks all in place, the plumbing crew was able to test the caulking, seals, and pipe fittings for leaks. Everything passed with flying colors, including the food prep sink pictured above.
Last fall when trees within the construction zone had to be cut down, ECLC members harvested logs to turn into lumber. Jim Strom decided to use some to create furniture for our revamped church. Today, he brought in the first piece: a beautiful, oak bench for the library.
Today, artist and ECLC member Dan Mason installed the stained glass windows that he created for our kitchen. Fittingly enough, food is the unifying theme for the series of images, which includes the loaf of bread and fish pictured below.
This morning, demolition began in the northwest section of the building. The upper level will house an expanded suite of offices, and the lower level will have refurbished classrooms and a new family restroom.
A giant load of mulch was delivered and piled in our east parking lot. Bobcats and wheelbarrows are being used to distribute portions around the site so that the landscaping crew can protect our newly planted beds.
