SCI-FI, FAITH, AND CONVERSATION: Interested in a deeper discussion of The Matrix films’ religious and philosophical overtones? Join us on Jan. 24 at 9:45 where we will discuss topics like belief, free will, and choice. SAVE THE DATE! ECLC ANNUAL MEETING Save the date and plan to attend the 2016 Annual Congregational Meeting after the second service on Sunday, January 31. Members will elect the church council and other representatives, get an update about our building project, approve the 2016 budget and more. Childcare will be provided.
GENESIS BIBLE STUDY IN JANUARY Kick off the New Year with an exploration of the beginning of the Bible! On Wednesday nights, 6:30-8 p.m., January 6-February 3, join ECLC member Rev. Catherine Malotky as she leads a Book of Faith study on Genesis that she authored. In this study, participants will explore early stories of faith and God's promise in the book of Genesis through each session’s big question. $15 fee for materials. Register at the Sign-Up Center.
REFUGEE MENTORING: Stand up and say “You are welcome here” in a helpful way by mentoring a newly arrived refugee family through Lutheran Social Service. Volunteers visit with a family 3 times per month for 3 months, helping them learn cultural tasks like how to grocery shop, what a parent teacher conference is, how to open a bank account, etc. Email Larry Edlund to sign up for a training on Monday, January 11th at 7pm at ECLC.
WIT: WOMEN IN TRANSITION--all women welcome! We will gather Tuesday, January 12, 7-9 PM, at Grammercy Park, 6711 Lake Shore Dr, Richfield. We will discuss the book by Brene' Brown, "The Gifts of Imperfection". Looking ahead: February's meeting will be a discussion of "Threads: Pulling Meaning from the Tangled Mess," by Nancy Kraft.
