"I found I could say things
with colour and shapes that
I couldn't say anyother way -
things I had no words for."

Georgia O'Keeffe

Critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity are an important part of being human. They are also skills for the 21st century, and an important part of WAM (Worship, Arts & Music) weeks for ECLC Kids. God shows up in the creative and collaborative processes of the arts; in prayer beads, valentines, building designs, and prayer pillows.

This coming Sunday is a WAM week for all ages. After learning a little more about our friends at Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) K - GR 5 kids will be creating prayer pillows. Kids will bring these one-of-a-kind pillowcases home the following week, as a reminder to pray daily for our immigrant and refugee brothers and sisters. GR 6-8 will be making valentines for shut-ins. GR 9-12 will be making prayer beads in the Adult Forum.

Stop by our new, "Rebuilding Hope" display on the lower level, directly across from the elevator. Offerings toward a LIRS children's room will be collected in large-group, and can also be added to the piggy bank. We need your help to reach our goal! Also, be sure to consider the displayed children's art, created last week, to express ideas for ECLC's new building design.

Faithfully yours,
