THIS SUNDAY! 2nd Grade Milestone: SUPER POWERS of PRAYER
This Sunday ECLC's second grade children and their parents will explore the wonder of the gospel, the Lord's Prayer, and their God-given "Super Powers" of prayer -- with super hero capes, comics, and colorful prayer beads! Children in second grade will also be given a blessing in worship, and a special gift during our milestone event from 9:45-10:40 am in the Sanctuary.
MARCH FO(U)RTH TO CHOIR! Get thee to choir beginning March 4th after Lenten Vespers to prepare pieces for worship on March 22, Good Friday, Easter Sunday and April 26. All are welcome!
LENTEN WORSHIP & SOUP SUPPERS ARE JUST AROUND THE CORNER: Join ECLC each Wednesday during Lent, beginning Wednesday, February 25, for soup supper between 6-7, followed by Taize and Holden Evening Prayer. Soup, bread, milk, and dessert donors are now needed; sign up to bring something at the sign up center!
ADULT FORUM: ~ February 15: El Salvador: As the relationship between Cristo de Paz and ECLC deepens and grows, come hear stories from ECLC’s most recent travelers and see pictures of Cristo de Paz’s growing community!
COMMUNITY EMERGENCY SERVICE: Food packers are needed at our local food shelf partner Community Emergency Service (1900 11th Ave S., Mpls) from 9am-10:30 am on Thursday, February 19. Please email Lauren if you can volunteer.
SERVE AND SOCIALIZE PARTNERS WITH LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF: This year’s Lenten Offering will partially support our ministry partner, Lutheran World Relief, and their incredible ministry specifically supporting refugees around the world. On Thursday, March 5th from 10:00 am-Noon, you’re invited to ECLC to tie fleece blankets to be distributed worldwide to LWR. Email Lauren to sign up.
CROSSING BRIDGES: SELMA TO MINNEAPOLIS: On March 8 from 2:00-4:00 pm, join thousands of Minnesotans to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Selma March by marching from the Minnesota State Capitol to Central Presbyterian in downtown St. Paul where we will hear inspiring speakers on the continued institutional racism that divides us all. ECLC is a supporting member of this event; let’s show up in a big way! Email Lauren for details on this interfaith event.
WOMEN’S SHORT STORY GROUP: The short story group will meet at the home of Karen Boyum on Friday, February 20 at 10:00 am. We will discuss "Royal Beatings" by Alice Munro. All are welcome. Please let Karen know if you plan to attend.

ECLC’s Generational Parties are happening this month: 45ish-60ish: Join the potluck fun at Sara & Bill Mize’s home on Saturday, February 21 beginning at 5:30 pm. 25ish-45ish: Enjoy this potluck hosted by Sarah Danielson & Jen Esser at their home on Saturday, February 28 beginning at 5:00 pm. WOMEN IN TRANSITION: WIT will gather on Tuesday, March 17 at 7:00 pm at Sandy Heidemann’s home. Doris Pagelkopf will present an exquisite—and today, timely—speech on religious inclusivity given by Princess Basma of Jordan who personally funded the YWCA in her Muslim country. Doris was Princess Basma's guest in Amman, Jordan at the Hashemite Foundation to explore women's issues in Jordan and Palestine. We will be reading Princess Basma’s speech together at the meeting, but if you would like a copy to read beforehand, please contact Deb Gensmer.
LENTEN OFFERING GOES GLOBAL: This Lent, ECLC’s Mission Committee invites you to Take Up Justice, Take Up Reconciliation, and Take Up Peace. ECLC will engage in various ways with our ministry partners supporting migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers locally and around the world. This year’s Lenten Offering will support Lutheran World Relief and Lutheran World Federation, both leaders in refugee and migration work worldwide, and partners in working to end the humanitarian crisis of child migration from El Salvador. TRAVEL-SIZED TOILETRIES NEEDED: Do you have unopened travel-sized toiletries from hotel stays in your bathroom cupboard? Drop them off at the blue bin at ECLC’s sign up center throughout February and we will donate them to local shelters and social service agencies who need them for guests!
