ECLC ANNUAL MEETING Save the date and plan to attend the 2016 Annual Congregational Meeting after the second service on Sunday, January 31. Members will elect the church council and other representatives, get an update about our building project, and approve the 2016 budget and more. Childcare will be provided.

CARING FOR CREATION MEETING SUNDAY:  Meet ECLCers caring about sustainability this Sunday at 9:30 in the Nook for a conversation on ECLC’s involvement in a new solar garden in Edina, participation as an Eco-Faith congregation, and green priorities in our own building project. See you there!

YOU’RE INVITED TO A MISSION CELEBRATION: Ministry outside the walls of ECLC is a core part of who we are. On Monday, January 25th at 6:30pm you are invited to a Mission Update & Celebration at Dick & Sharon Aadalen’s Edina condo party room. Hosted by ECLC’s Mission Committee, you’ll hear updates from various ECLC ministries (including Caring for Creation, Loaves and Fishes, 66 West and more) and celebrate your participation in a year of ministry together.  This event is a Chili Cook Off…may the best ministry team’s chili win!  RSVP to Lauren at lmorsewendt@eclc.org

RETREAT FOR HIGH-SCHOOL YOUTH  On January 29, ECLC is hosting an OWL Retreat for our High-School students. OWL refers to the acronym "Our Whole Lives." This retreat is a form of activism through education and will focus on four main areas in the realm of sexuality and gender: self-worth, healthy sexual relationships, responsibility, and justice and inclusivity. We will be at ECLC from Friday, January 29 at 6:00pm – Sunday, January 31 at 12pm. Questions? Email JD Mechelke at jmechelke@eclc.org. PARENTS AND ECLC MEMBERS: Sign up at the sign-up center to sponsor one or more of the five meals throughout the weekend.

VOLUNTEER WITH ECLC MISSION PARTNER, H.O.M.E:  Be matched with an elder and brighten their day  by connecting on an ongoing basis and doing things that you both enjoy.  Small groups and families welcome; youth must be age 12 or older and supervised by an adult. Please contact Jeanne the HOME Program, Volunteer Coordinator at scsvolunteer@seniorcommunity.org or call 952-767-7894 for more information.

SCI-FI, FAITH, AND CONVERSATION: Interested in a deeper discussion of The Matrix films’ religious and philosophical overtones? Join us on Jan. 24 at 9:45 where we will discuss topics like belief, free will, and choice. The Matrix trilogy contains many archetypes that are very fundamental to our relationship to the world at large…watch them first if you can!

LOCAL REFUGEE MENTORING:  Stand up and say “You are welcome here” in a helpful way by mentoring a newly arrived refugee family through Lutheran Social Service. Volunteers visit with a family 3 times per month for 3 months, helping them learn cultural tasks like how to grocery shop, what a parent teacher conference is, how to open a bank account, etc.  Email Larry Edlund at lwedlund@comcast.net to sign up for a training on Monday, January 11th at 7pm at ECLC.

WIT: WOMEN IN TRANSITION— all women welcome! We will gather Tuesday, January 12, from 7-9 PM, at Grammercy Park, 6711 Lake Shore Drive in Richfield.
