54TH STREET UPDATE & PARKING INSTRUCTIONS:  Starting Monday, August 3, construction will begin on 54th Street in front of ECLC. The first step in the process will be materials reclamation, in which the surface is removed and ground up to use as fill in another area of the project.
It will take several weeks for our section of the road to be rebuilt, but access to the church will be maintained throughout. If the parking lot is full on Sunday morning, attendees may park on the street as usual. However, if you visit ECLC on weekdays between 7:00 am – 5:00 pm, you must park in the lot to keep the street clear for work crews.
Thank you for your patience during this upgrade to our neighborhood infrastructure. Questions about the project may be directed to Kristian Clauser, Business Administrator.

VEAP SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE: Our local food shelf, VEAP, hopes to provide over 3,000 local children with school supplies this Fall. Please bring their most needed items (backpacks, folders, pencils, notebooks) to ECLC by Sunday, August 9th.  OR, ECLC will have pre-purchased supplies out this coming Sunday the 2nd for you to purchase for donation after worship!

CHRISTMAS…IN AUGUST?!  Yes! ECLC will celebrate the birth of Christ, which is truly a year long celebration, in worship this Sunday, August 2nd.  Come to experience the meaning of God on earth…with all your favorite Christmas hymns at both services.

FREEDOM RIDER TO SPEAK AT ECLC   Minnesotan Claire O'Connor traveled to Mississippi in 1961 and became a Freedom Rider.  She was jailed for 28 days in Mississippi Hinds County Jail and Parchman State Penitentiary.  During the 1964 Freedom Summer she also worked on voter registration and community organizing with COFO and SNCC in Mississippi.  Since that time she has worked as a community organizer of low income families, homeless inner city teens and battered women in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area.  She currently lives in Minneapolis and works as a professional potter.  Claire will be speaking at Edina Community Lutheran Church on Wednesday, August 5 at 7:00 pm.   There is no admission charge, however in the wake of the recent African American church burnings, donations toward the Rebuild the Churches Fund will be accepted.

TRANS ALLY TRAINING AT ECLC: ECLC will host Outfront Minnesota’s transgender ally training for People of Faith on Tuesday, August 11 from 6-8pm. WIT ALERT:  Women in Transition plans for August have changed so that we can participate in the Trans Ally Training for People of Faith on Tuesday, August 11 at ECLC.  The training is free, but you must sign up because space is limited (contact Lauren).  If you can, plan to stay for a short discussion after the training.  We have rescheduled our book discussion on “Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters at the End” by Atul Gawande until September 8 at Judy’s home.
