WELCOMING BRAINSTORMING SESSION: Help ECLC brainstorm how to invite and welcome newcomers with true hospitality. Stay for brainstorming and planning this Sunday, July 7th from 11:30-12:30 with the Welcoming Team. We need your ideas! No RSVP needed, but contact Lauren with questions.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING, BEACON, AND ECLC…WHAT’S NEXT? Come to a learning and planning session with Beacon at 1pm on Thursday, July 11th to learn how we might help Beacon build affordable housing in the SW metro for families! Email Lauren to RSVP.

SHORT STORY GROUP The women’s short story group will gather on Friday, July 19 at 10 am at the home of our newest participant, Karuna R. Instead of discussing a specific story, you are asked to bring a poem or short reading to share, we will also discuss the issues facing women today. All are welcome. If you would like to carpool, meet at Marilyn D’s home at 9:30 am. Please RSVP to Karuna.

IMMIGRATION VIGIL: Join our partners from Interfaith Coalition on Immigration outside of Immigration Court at the Whipple Building, just 10 minutes from ECLC, on Tuesday, July 9 from 7:30-8:30am to stand in solidarity as people of faith with immigrants detained.

PAPERLESS SINGING EVENT Come to ECLC on Thursday, August 15th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for a paperless music, community singing event. Led by Paul Andress, the event will include:

  • Learning new songs by ear that will be used in worship over the next year.

  • Learning melodies and harmonies by ear rather than from sheet music.

  • Time for reflection, relaxation, and connection between songs.

  • Helping the entire group write one song on-the-spot that will be sung in worship.

  • This event is not a choir rehearsal of any kind. The group who gathers will not sing as a group during worship services. Participants do not need to be able to read music. In fact, there will be no written music at the event. All songs will be learned by ear as taught by the leader.

So whether you’ve studied music for years or you’re a complete novice, you are welcome! See Paul Andress with any questions.

VOLUNTEER COMPANION FOR ELDER IN EDINA: Our partners at Lutheran Social Service are seeking a once-a-week Neighbor To Neighbor Companion volunteer to connect with an elderly man in Edina who lives alone. You'd commit to one visit per week and spend the time getting to know each other, driving to the grocery store or other errands, or helping with appointment drop offs. Training is provided and a $50 stipend plus mileage is provided to the volunteer. What a way to make a profound difference in the life of a neighbor! Interested in learning more?
