IT’S FINALLY HERE: 66 WEST GROUNDBREAKING ON TUESDAY!  Join community members, Senator Melissa Franzen, Mayor Jim Hovland, County Commissioner Randy Johnson, and dozens of friends of Beacon at 66’s Party of the year!  Your 5 years of hard work were instrumental in this moment—now, it’s time to celebrate.  The Groundbreaking is Tuesday, July 12 from 5-6:30pm, at 3330 W. 66th Street in Edina (corner of Barrie Road) with a brief program at 5:30pm. Limited parking will be available at the Southdale Place Office Building site west of the 66 West site. Please consider carpooling from ECLC or using transit. Email Lauren to join the occasion!

WOMEN IN TRANSITION: Join WIT on Tuesday, July 12 as we join in the groundbreaking ceremony for 66 West. We’ll meet at the site at 5pm and after the ceremony is over we’ll gather at Patrick’s Bakery & Café (66 & York) for good conversation and dinner or a treat. Please consider carpooling if you can. RACE IN MINNESOTA BOOK CONVERSATION NEXT WEEK:  Join a conversation on the critically acclaimed “A Good Time for the Truth: Race in Minnesota” by Sun Yung Shin on Wednesday, July 13th at 7pm.  Part of ECLC’s Always Being Made New summer, the Mission Team invites you to stretch and read something new this summer. SPRINKLE CELEBRATION for Baby Coltvet Erdmann on Sunday, July 17 after worship around 11 a.m. in the sanctuary. There will be light snacks, cake and beverages.  Anyone who would like to contribute light snacks can sign up in the sign up center. Anyone is invited to bring prayers for the baby through a blessing bowl or diapers or gift cards for the family.  

THE LATE HOMECOMER BOOK & DINNER CONVERSATION:  Pick up the powerful memoir about coming to Minnesota as a refugee, “The Late Homecomer” by Kao Kalia Yang. VEAP SCHOOL SUPPLY SORTING—AGES 12 AND UP: Thousands of students will get needed school supplies through VEAP this year. Volunteer to sort supplies at their warehouse (9600 Aldrich, Bloomington) on Tuesday, August 9th from 9am-Noon. Volunteers ages 12 and up are encouraged.  Email Lauren to sign up.

LOAVES & FISHES:  Many more families need meal support over the summer months when school is out of session. Help all neighbors receive a meal at Loaves & Fishes (Holy Rosary: 2448 18th Ave S., Mpls) on Tuesday, July 19th.  Food prep volunteers are needed from 1:30-3:00pm and serving volunteers are needed from 5:00-6:30pm.

PACK FOOD BAGS AT COMMUNITY EMERGENCY SERVICE:  Pack culturally appropriate groceries for homebound clients of CES Food Shelf on Thursday, July 21st from 9am-10:30am.  Volunteers ages 5 & up are welcome—what a great family service activity! Email Lauren to sign up.
