CALL COMMITTEE UPDATE No update this week. We have scheduled a week of reflection and discernment before we conduct in-depth interviews with the top candidates. We welcome your prayers for each candidate, for ECLC, and for the staff as we seek to be attuned to and faithful to God’s leading.
REDEEMER PASTOR, THE REV. KELLY CHATMAN, PREACHING: We welcome Pastor Kelly Chatman from our sibling congregation, Redeemer Lutheran Church, as preacher in both worship services this Sunday, July 28th.
A MEAL AND YOUR SMILE MATTER: Nestled throughout Edina are homebound residents in need of a friendly face and a daytime meal. Can you spend an hour delivering a greeting and a meal through Meals on Wheels? ECLC needs volunteers on Friday, August 2nd at 11am. Email ECLC Mission Partner Liaison Sarah I. to sign up. Families volunteering together are welcome!
ECLC CAMPFIRE & CONGREGATIONAL PICNIC: Sunday, August 4th from 4:00-6:30 pm Come for part or stay for all of ECLC’s Campfire & Congregational Picnic. We will sing songs, play games, and tell stories at the home of Sarah & Dan K. and family on Lake Riley in Chanhassen. Bring a dish to share for a potluck-style picnic. There are stairs to the picnic area, so let us know if we can help with any accommodations. RSVP at the sign-up center. All are welcome!
RACE, RACISM, AND THE LUTHERAN CHURCH: According to his book, Dear Church: A Love Letter from a Black Preacher to the Whitest Denomination in the U.S., Pastor Lenny Duncan is “the unlikeliest of pastors.” As an ELCA Pastor, Duncan has written essential reading for Lutherans about our Church, the Gospel, racism, and what we can do now. Join Lauren to hear Pastor Duncan speak at 7pm on Thursday, September 19th at Luther Seminary in St. Paul. $10 tickets available; his original venue sold out, so buy now! Email Lauren with any questions.
STEWARDSHIP POP-UP CONVERSATIONS Stewardship is beyond financial giving! Come to a pop-up conversation between services (9:40-10:20) to explore and discuss modern topics related to stewardship. ECLC members will guide these casual discussions and offer their own personal story, share a TED Talk video or use other conversation starters. Join us on August 4 to hear from Sophie B. on Adventures in Mission: Stories of calling and ministry in Argentina and Mexico. And again on August 18 for Catherine M.’s discussion on what makes a happy life.
