WOMEN IN TRANSITION (WIT) invites you to join them on Sunday, June 14 at 2:30 pm for a new play. A study conducted by ECLC Member Sara Mize and her colleague Alex Lantaffi from the University of Minnesota is the basis for the theatrical interpretation “No Expiration Date: Sexuality & Aging.”  A heartwarming, illuminating and thought-provoking theatrical experience. The play runs through June 14 at Intermedia Arts, 2822 Lyndale Ave. S., Minneapolis. WIT will also have the opportunity to discuss the play with the writers and actors after the show. CHILDREN, YOUTH & FAMILY MINISTRY SUMMIT   You are invited to participate in ECLC’s Children, Youth, and Family Ministry Summit on Wednesday, June 17, from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Please join Kelly Rowley, JD Mechelke, Pastor Stephanie, and Gretchen Lieving, Minister of Faith Formation-Youth, as we innovate and create a collaborative vision for CYF ministry at ECLC. FOOD PACKING—GREAT VOLUNTEER ACTIVITY FOR ALL AGES:  Join the ECLC group packing dozens of food bags for homebound neighbors at Community Emergency Service on Thursday, June 18 from 9-10:30.(1900 11th Ave S.). This is also a great activity for kids 5 and up. Email Lauren to RSVP.

THE WOMEN'S SHORT STORY GROUP will be meeting at Deborah Olmon's on Friday, June 19, from 10am-noon. Our short story for this month is "Shiloh" by Bobbie Ann Mason from the collection “We Are the Stories We Tell”.  All women are welcome to join us at any time.  RSVP to Deborah.

JOIN ECLC QUILTERS  Summer is here but the ECLC quilters keep at the task of making quilts for Lutheran World Relief and local refugee organizations. Are you looking for a way to be active in an ECLC mission this summer? Join the quilters for a brown bag lunch at noon followed by layering and tying of quilts starting at 1:00 pm on these Fridays: June 19, July 10, July 24, August 7 and August 21. No previous quilting experience is required.

BRIDGE CLOSED: Starting June 22, the 54th Street bridge over Minnehaha Creek will be closed for demolition and reconstruction. The project should be completed sometime in the fall of 2015. For those coming from the west, 56th Street should provide the quickest detour to ECLC while the 54th Street bridge is under construction.  See our Directions page for a map with detour.

PRIDE VOLUNTEERS:  Show your Lutheran PRIDE at this summer’s Twin Cities PRIDE festival. Volunteers are needed at the Lutheran booth from 12-2pm on Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28.  Materials provided—you’re there to show the Lutheran welcome! Email Lauren at to sign up.

CAMP KNUTSON AIRPORT VOLUNTEERS:   Camp Knutson is a summer camp designed for children living with severe disorders of the skin. Each year, ECLC volunteers greet the campers as they get off the plane and get them to their camp bus…and then accompany them from the camp bus to ensure they find their way to their plane home. Volunteers are needed for 3 hour shifts during the day on June 21, June 26, July 5, and July 12.  Sign up at the Sign Up Center!

DONATE CHILDREN’S BOOKS: Plymouth Christian Youth Center welcomes hundreds of kids to visit their Little Free Library in North Mpls. PCYC refills this library each week and ECLC is helping keep it full! Bring children’s books (baby through teen, no adult books) to the Sign Up Center through June 28!

ENJOY OUTDOOR MUSIC WITH ECLC:  Join ECLC at the Lake Harriet Bandshell on Sunday, June 21 for the 5:30pm free Minnesota Philharmonic concert.  An LGBT orchestra, this local group is the wonderful background for an evening of music! Email Lauren to sign up—or just show up!
 
CUBAN MUSICIANS NEED ONE NIGHT HOMESTAY:  Our ministry partners at St. Paul’s are hosting the Cuban choral group, Coro Entrevoces, when they perform with the MN Orchestra in July.  Do you have a guest bedroom?  Homestay families are needed for one night on Friday, July 3rd. Host would pick up their guest (or guests—individuals, couples, and families are traveling) in the evening and drop them off at St. Paul’s on the morning of the 4th.  Spanish is not required.  To participate, email Lauren.

CARING FOR CREATION & PETER MAYER BENEFIT CONCERT!  Join our partners at Minnesota Interfaith Power and Light for a benefit concert and fun summer evening touring the solar and permaculture gardens of St. Luke Presbyterian Church. Saturday, June 20th from 6:30-8:00, tour the gardens, learn about solar power, and enjoy appetizers while perusing silent auction items to support MIPL before enjoying an 8pm concert by Peter Mayer.  Tickets available for $20 at www.mnipl.org
