BISHOP’S VISIT, MAY 14 An important part of the pastoral transition process will be Bishop Ann Svennungsen’s visit for a Congregational Conversation on Tuesday, May 14, at 6:30 pm. All ECLC members are encouraged to attend this meeting when we will review the latest draft of our Ministry Site Profile and discuss next steps in the call process.The Council of Ministers will appoint a call committee soon, and they will receive names and profiles of pastor candidates from the bishop’s staff by the end of June. If you would like to nominate a candidate, you may offer names to the call committee when it is formed.
HOUSING, TRAINING, AND ADVOCACY ON MONDAY: Join Deacon Lauren, Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative, Lutheran Advocacy-Minnesota, and the Homes For All Campaign for a HUGE housing afternoon at the capitol on Monday, May 6! At 12:30, we’ll be trained with updates on housing legislation, attend a housing rally in the capitol rotunda, and deliver handwritten notes to our legislators before departing at 3. MAY 12 SUNDAY FORUM- RACIAL JUSTICE: FREEDOM FUND Tonja Honsey and Octavia Smith of the Minnesota Freedom Fund will present an overview of the role of bail in the Hennepin County and Minnesota justice systems. They will outline the role Minnesota Freedom Fund plays to keep people out of jail while waiting for their time in court, and identify ways ECLC can participate in and support their efforts as volunteers, in advocacy, and through financial support.
NATIVE PLANT LANDSCAPING On Saturday, May 18 from 9-noon, please join the EcoFaith Team in helping to install our new Native Plant Landscaping. We need volunteers to plant, rake in new grass seed, wheelbarrow mulch, and create a new bike area. Children and Youth welcome! HOMEBREW CLASS & CONVERSATION: Join ECLCers Jeff H-S and Karl O to get to know more people at church and learn the basics of home brewing! On Sunday, May 19th from 1-4pm, join us for fellowship and fermentation while discovering a variety of brewing techniques! We will provide an introduction to home brewing with a take-home treat six weeks later. Come for the brewing, stay for the conversations (and snacks!). $10 suggested donation to pay for supplies. NURSERY ATTENDANT JOB OPENING ECLC seeks a reliable, hospitable, and caring Nursery Attendant, to provide care for 0-5 year olds for 3-5 hours on alternating Sundays mornings, and occasional special events. This is a $20 per hour paid position, working closely with nursery volunteers. Must be certified in first aid and CPR for children and infants, and understand basic childcare protocols.
