ECLC’S KICK OFF TO SUMMER HAPPY HOUR: Connect with other ECLCers, check out Edina’s new Wooden Hill brewery, and kick off ECLC’s Summer of Story on Wednesday, June 5 from 5-7 pm. This fun social event, where you can even try Wooden Hill’s craft soda, is friendly to all ages. While we enjoy, a few ECLCer’s will share their personal faith stories—and ask how we might imagine how our story is wrapped up in God’s story….all in the presence of ECLC friends! RSVP to Lauren or at the Sign Up Center.
ONE-TIME-VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT VEAP: Join a group of ECLCers on Friday, June 7th from 2:30-5:00 to volunteer in the VEAP warehouse. Ages 12 through adult are needed—and there’s no school that day! Never been to VEAP? This is a perfect time to go in the company of ECLC friends. Email ECLC VEAP Mission Partner Liaison Michelle C. to RSVP.
ECLC’S NEIGHBORHOOD NIGHT OUT—BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! Save the Date for an ECLC party on Wednesday, June 19th from 6-8pm…in YOUR neighborhood. Last year, 13 ECLC social gatherings happened simultaneously. Will one of them be in your backyard this year? Email Lauren to volunteer to host your neighborhood’s party this June!
BEACON, HOUSING FOR FAMILIES, AND ECLC: Are you ready to help Vista 44, supporting housing for families in Hopkins, happen? Beacon needs supporters to learn more, show up for City Council and Planning Commissions, and advocate for this housing…just like we did for 66 West. It’s time to use our experience for good! Email Lauren to stay on an email list with Vista 44 updates and to learn more about volunteer needs.
VISIT CRISTO DE PAZ & EL SALVADOR WITH PASTOR JEFF: Be inspired on a week-long trip in November 2019 to visit our sibling congregation, Cristo de Paz in El Salvador! Led by Pastor Jeff, this trip for adults will include meeting many scholarship students, worshipping with Cristo de Paz, learning about the migrant crisis, and visiting historic and geological wonders of El Salvador as chosen by trip participants. Email Pastor Jeff to learn more.
LITTLE FREE LIBRARY HELPERS: Love books? Or free stuff? We’re looking for a volunteer to re-stock our Little Free Library once a month from our on-site storage. An easy, 15 minute job you can do when you’re here on a Sunday! Great for a family to do together! To join the rotation, email Lauren.
PEACE POLE: Did you know that Mother's Day also marked the 11th anniversary of ECLC's peace pole? The peace pole commemorates the commitment made by the ECLC congregation at the 2008 annual meeting to designate ECLC as a "peace church" committed to peace and social justice. Our peace pole was designed and constructed by John Peterson and was dedicated on May 11, 2008. The languages on the pole were chosen after several weeks of voting by congregation members, including Danish to honor the background of many of our founding members. Please take time to walk over to the peace pole - and reflect on our commitment to peace and justice.
