TIE FLEECE BLANKETS WITH ECLC TOMORROW: This year’s Lenten Offering will partially support our ministry partner, Lutheran World Relief, and their ministry specifically supporting refugees. This Thursday, March 5 from 10am - Noon, you’re invited to ECLC to tie fleece blankets to be distributed worldwide to LWR, followed by lunch together to learn about and converse about refugee ministry. DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME IS MARCH 8: Remember to set your clocks ahead on Saturday, March 7 in order to show up for worship on time on Sunday, March 8. Spring ahead one hour that night.
LENTEN MIDWEEK WORSHIP Each Wednesday through March 25: 6pm Soup Supper, 7pm Taizé singing and 7:15pm Holden Evening Prayer.
THE MEN'S CHORUS will rehearse on Sunday, March 8 between services in the Sanctuary. All men that like to sing and can carry a tune are invited.
ECLC LAMBS GATHER ON SUNDAY: As we raise up little ones at ECLC, we invite all 0-3 year olds and their families to gather in the nursery from 9:45-10:45 this Sunday for faith formation that even the littlest baby can participate in.
CROSSING BRIDGES: SELMA TO MINNEAPOLIS: On March 8 from 2-4 pm, 25 ECLCers will join thousands of Minnesotans to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Selma March by marching ½ mile from the Minnesota State Capitol to Central Presbyterian in downtown St. Paul where we will hear inspiring speakers on the continued institutional racism that divides us all. LOAVES AND FISHES: ECLC will prepare and serve a meal to hundreds of hungry neighbors on Tuesday, March 17 at Holy Rosary Church (2448 18th Ave S., Mpls). This is a fun and meaningful opportunity for ages 14 & up. Email Carol to sign up to prepare from 1:30-3:00 or serve from 5:00-7:00.
ADVOCATE FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING ON MARCH 19: Join ECLCers and Beacon on Thursday, March 19th for a special ECLC-focused housing day on the hill from 10am-2pm. A small group of us will visit each of our legislators on that day with the supportive guidance from Beacon. Never been to the capitol before? WOMEN IN TRANSITION: WIT will gather on Tuesday, March 17 at 7pm at Sandy Heidemann’s home. Doris Pagelkopf will present an exquisite—and today, timely—speech on religious inclusivity given by Princess Basma of Jordan who personally funded the YWCA in her Muslim country. Copies of Princess Basma’s speech are available at the sign-up counter.
FROM THE MISSION & IMMIGRATION TASK FORCE: Interested in learning more about the implications of immigration here in Minnesota? Check out the Minnesota Historical Society's website for stories of recent immigrants and refugees, as well as national and local information about immigration policy. There are also some great resources for kids who want to learn more about immigration in Minnesota.
LENTEN OFFERING GOES GLOBAL: This Lent, ECLC’s Mission Committee invites you to Take Up Justice, Take Up Reconciliation, and Take Up Peace. ECLC will engage in various ways with our ministry partners supporting migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers locally and around the world. This year’s Lenten Offering will support Lutheran World Relief and Lutheran World Federation, both leaders in refugee and migration work worldwide, and partners in working to end the humanitarian crisis of child migration from El Salvador.
