Lutheran World Relief Health Kits

“So, if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.” John 13:14

In 2013, the United Nations reported that 51 million of our brothers and sisters in Christ have been forcibly displaced from their homes. As refugees living in camps, as asylum seekers seeking safety in another country, or as migrants forced to flee from one region of a country or another, the suffering of those who cannot remain in their homes for fear of safety is in every corner of the globe.

Thankfully, the Lutheran Church is in every corner of the globe, too. On Sunday, December 28, we will join congregations across the country in packing Lutheran World Relief Health Kits for those who have fled violence. Often walking for hundreds of miles and now living in makeshift camps, they need basic health supplies to fight off infection, feel refreshed, and retain their personal dignity until it is safe to return home or to move to a new, stable home community.

Between now and Christmas Eve, please drop off:

  • Dark bath towels
  • Bars of soap
  • Toothbrushes
  • Wide-toothed combs
  • Metal nail clippers

We will pack these materials together to help those fleeing violence have the supplies they need to feel a bit of a fresh start upon arriving at a refugee camp after a long, dangerous journey. 51 million is a huge number. Let’s start by washing two feet…and then two more.
