Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent. This year on February 18th, we will remember that we are dust, and to dust we shall return. Receiving ashes on our foreheads in the shape of a cross, we are all invited to wear an outward sign of our inner repentance. It’s a countercultural symbol, really. We hope you will join us in worship on Wednesday, February 18, at 10 am or 7 pm for Holy Communion and the Imposition of Ashes, as we begin this journey of repentance together.
The season of Lent is often known as a time to fast or to ‘give up’ something—to deprive yourself of something that takes your attention away from God. As a community of faith, ECLC will ‘take up’ a few things too. We will direct our hearts, minds, and souls toward things that matter to God and get God’s attention—peace, justice, and reconciliation. We will have ‘stations of the cross’ that will allow us to reflect and to point us toward these marks of following Christ. We invite you to participate fully in the various ways God is calling us into a relationship with Christ and one another.
God’s Peace, Pastor Stephanie
