Special Congregational Meeting Sunday, March 8

The ECLC Council of Ministers has called a congregational meeting for  Sunday March 8th after the 11:00 am worship service (approximately 12:15 pm) for the purpose of voting to approve the design and budget for the expansion and remodel of our building as presented in the floor plans and elevations shared with the congregation in February and March. Based on information provided by Watson-Forsberg Construction, cost estimates for this project would be within a $4.7 million planning budget.  The congregation would vote to approve the building exterior, site design and budget; to present the design to the City of Edina, Watershed District and neighbors, and to have Bentz/Thompson/Rietow architects proceed with Design Development and Construction drawings that would result in a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) from Watson-Forsberg Construction.  A future congregational meeting and vote would be required to accept the GMP and to proceed with construction.

The meeting will receive and act on the recommendation of the Building Design Committee to move the building project forward, allowing the design to move through city, watershed approvals and the development of construction documents.  These construction documents will form the basis of an official construction bid, which will be subject to an approval at a later congregational meeting.  The meeting will also receive and act on the recommendations of the Finance Committee on the financing plan for the project – this will involve approval of a second capital appeal (with a 3rd to follow).

The Council of Ministers recommends approval of these steps to move forward.
