The Gift of an Extra Day

In the Christian tradition, we recognize Sunday not as the week-end…but instead as the first day of the week. We pause, we delight, we play, we rest and we gather in this Sabbath time not because we have earned it after a long week of work, but instead it is a gift to all of us from God. The Sabbath is not earned by completing our ‘to do’ lists or proving ourselves, but rather is one example of God’s grace for us.

This week, whether the ‘to do’ lists are complete or not, we invite you to gather to celebrate the gift of an extra day, February 29th. Every four years, we are given 24 bonus hours that we might otherwise let pass without notice; we invite you to use them for sabbath.

Come, join the 55 ECLCers who are already signed up to celebrate Leap Year Eve with an all ECLC bowling party. We will gather at the Park Tavern in St. Louis Park for bowling and pizza dinner from 4:30-6:30pm.  Food and bowling are $20 per adult, $15 for ages 3-13, and free for under age 3. RSVP to Lauren at lmorsewendt@eclc.org  through Sunday morning.
