Preventing and ending homelessness has long been a core mission value of ECLC’s. For many years, ECLC hosted 4-5 homeless families in our Sunday School classrooms for two weeks each year through the organization Families Moving Forward. Since that time, FMF has become a program of our partners, Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative! We stopped hosting in 2013 to prepare for construction of our new space.
Over these years, we have increased our commitment to ending homelessness through building and sustaining 66 West, engaging with Avenues for Homeless Youth, and continuing to advocate with Beacon.
Now, it’s time to discern our next steps with Families Moving Forward. Should we consider hosting again? What volunteer leadership would this require? Should we help a nearby congregation who struggles to host? Or, should we focus our mission energies elsewhere
