“For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.” Matthew 18:20
These words perfectly capture high school ministry at ECLC over the past few months. Filled with simple moments like sitting around a table at the local coffee shop, sharing conversation around simple, caring questions: “How have you been?” “What has been the most enjoyable part of your summer?” “What excites you about the upcoming year?” “What concerns you?” In those times caring, affirming, trusting relationships are being built; in those moments that coffee shop table has been revealed as holy ground.
We are looking forward to creating more time and space similar to this one for high school youth this upcoming school year, when the very ordinary is revealed as holy. High school youth are invited to come on Wednesday evenings where we will have both space to study and space to connect. Once a month we will take a deeper look into a special topic, paired with an opportunity to serve and take action. On Sunday mornings youth can gather for Mass Meetings to reconnect with one another and explore scripture in the context of our daily lives. And we will continue our monthly evening Connections, when youth gather at a member's home for food, fellowship, and hilarity. May we continue to find ourselves on holy ground.
