"There is another element that must be present in our struggle that then makes our resistance and nonviolence truly meaningful. That element is reconciliation. Our ultimate end must be the creation of the beloved community." Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Next Wednesday, we're all invited to enter into beloved community with the people of Harrison neighborhood at Redeemer Lutheran Church's 17th Annual Block Party. For those of us who've attended in the past, we know this will be a joyous celebration of community, culture, connectedness...and good food!! We know we will see familiar faces and meet many of our siblings for the first time. We know this will be a time that feels familiar and also very different from a typical ECLC BBQ in the parking lot. Above all, we know God will be present in our midst.
Last year 40 ECLC folks joined the celebration and this year we hope to double or triple this bounty of presence. Please join us for live music by the Redeemer band, live painting by Robert Coleman and his students, live Zumba classes and activities for the kids led by community members, and grilled burgers, roasted corn, fresh veggies and bread oven pizza. Come to the Northside. The feast is ready. All are welcome! Wednesday, August 21 from 6-8pm. 1800 Glenwood Avenue, Minneapolis.
"You can't really be in relationship if you never go there." Deacon Lauren Morse-Wendt
