A GOOD IDEA FOR FAMILIES WITH KIDS!  Worshiping with children isn’t easy. We want to help. Beginning September 17 families with children will be welcomed each week with a Good Idea for engaging more fully in the worship service. And for those weeks when sitting through the readings and sermon gets too difficult for younger children, we'll also offer a brief “extended children’s sermon” in the Fellowship Hall (after the children’s sermon, up until the music begins to play). Together we'll experience the same Bible stories as in the service, but in ways that appeal to the senses and imagination of children. Parents attend with their children.

PRESCHOOL WELCOME & BIBLE MILESTONE FOR 3 YEAR OLDS, SEPTEMBER 17 All preschoolers are given an extra big welcome on this first day of Sunday School! It’s also a special day for our 3 year old friends! Children new to Sunday School (usually age 3) are welcomed by Carla & Sandy to Sunday School in Room 7 from 9:45-10:45, with a blessing and Jesus Storybook Bible presented to them in worship during the children’s sermon at 8:30 & 11. Families of new 3-4 year olds, invite godparents, grandparents, and others to join you and your child on this milestone day!

BEFRIENDERS MINISTRY This fall ECLC will begin a new ministry of lay pastoral care. All of us, at times, are on a difficult journey and need a caring, companion who will listen, empathize and be a reminder of a caring community Are you a good listener? Do you have a few hours each month to visit members as a trained, listening presence? Befrienders Ministry is just that. The foundational principles of Befriender Ministry are: (1) God is Present (2) Caring, not Curing (3) Non-judgmental Presence (4) Active Listening.
An informational meeting will be held on Tuesday evening, September 26 at 6:00 at ECLC.  If you are interested in learning whether this might be a good fit for your gifts, please come! Pastor Stephanie, Kevin Frolen and Kathy Magnus have taken the Befriender Ministry Leadership Training. If you have questions about the program prior to the informational meeting, just chat with one of them.
