summer for youth (gr 9-12)
elca youth gathering
ECLC youth entering GR 9 - 12 in the fall of 2015 have an opportunity to engage with peers from across the United States and the world to share a common commitment and faith in Christ during this year's ELCA Youth Gathering, July 15 - 19, in Detroit, Michigan. The Gathering is a five-day event held every three years that begins on a Wednesday evening and ends with a service of communion the following Sunday morning. The opening night sets the stage for the days ahead in which young people may have an encounter with Jesus that energizes their faith and helps them discover their call to serve in the world — locally and globally. On the days between Wednesday and Sunday, young people rotate through a variety of service learning experiences in the surrounding community. They explore and strengthen their faith by studying God’s word, serving their neighbor, sharing bread and wine in worship, participating in lively faith discussions and broadening their experience of God’s world and diverse communities through travel.
where's flat jesus?
Faith Formation isn't something that happens only during the school year. Summer is a wonderful time for all ages to explore what it means that God is always with us. A reminder that God comes to us in the most ordinary of ways. Everywhere we are and everywhere we go. There is nowhere Christ isn't - and no where we can't take Jesus.
Fannie Lou Hamer, Sam Bowers, Jr., William Douglas Hudgins, Rev. Edwin King, and Cleveland Sellers were all Christians during the revolutionary summer of 1964 during the Civil Rights Movement. But some responded with white hoods, and others with peaceful protest. How do we know when we are doing God's will? How do we know if we are following our God-given call? Join us on select Sundays from 11:30 am - 1 pm as we explore Our Story, God's Story, and the Summer of 1964. Chipotle burrito and chips provided.

the naming project summer camp
The goal of The Naming Project is to provide a safe and sacred space where youth of all sexual orientations and gender identities are named and claimed by a loving God; can explore and share faith; experience healthy and life-giving community; reach out to others; and advocate for systemic change in church and society. The Naming Project Summer Camp is for 14 - 18 year-olds or those who have completed 8th - 12th grades who are of any sexual orientation or gender identity or expression who are interested in discussing and understanding sexuality and gender in terms of their own spiritual journey and are excited to spend time with other teen campers and staff while canoeing, swimming, hiking, singing, doing arts and crafts. Youth Camp is Jul 26 - 31, at Bay Lake.
